Column Basic Planting Guide
BEI offers basic planting guides for columns, based on standard soil conditions.
(N.B. It is the responsibility of the end user/contractor to ensure the suitablilty of these methods.)

| Guidence Notes: |
| Excavate hole approx. 100mm / 200mm larger than the base of column diameter to full depth of root. |
| Place a slab or brick (to prevent sinking). |
| Using a semi-dry concrete mix, put bottom covering in first, then lower column on to slab. |
| Continue concrete filling (to just under cable entry slot), and insert SWA cable. |
| Compact excavated material as backfi ll on top of concrete. |
| If required, use concrete/tarmac/asphalt finish. |
